Growing stronger through supportive peer networks in Gippsland

Delivered in partnership with Agriculture Victoria, and Meat & Livestock Australia, Farmers digging deeper is a regional project led by WPCLN from 2024 to 2026. It supports 444 farmers to better understand and adopt practices that improve natural capital, including soils, water, air, and biodiversity.

A farmer working group guides the project, ensuring activities are practical, relevant, and shaped by on-farm experience. Key activities include 18 farm walks that support peer learning and shared problem-solving, along with four field days focused on farm emissions planning, soil carbon modelling and measurement, soil health, and emerging carbon and biodiversity markets.

The project will also establish an on-farm demonstration site showcasing new innovations in low-emissions farm inputs, supporting farmers to build skills, explore new opportunities, and strengthen the long-term environmental and economic resilience of their farms.

This project is funded by the Australian Government through the Climate Smart Agriculture Program Small Grants.
