Founded in 1994, the Bunyip Landcare Group Inc. works to protect and enhance the natural environment across Bunyip, Tonimbuk, and Iona. The group focuses on conserving remnant native vegetation, connecting habitats for indigenous birds and animals, and controlling non-native plants and pests. Bunyip Landcare also raises community awareness of local wildlife, including the Southern Brown Bandicoot and Growling Grass Frog, and the threats posed by introduced species such as foxes, cats and deer.

Projects include shelterbelt planting, pest control on public and private land, and intiating larger catchment projects like Swampcare, which aims to improve biodiversity across the Koo Wee Rup Swamp. The group collaborates with schools, councils, Parks Victoria, Bunurong Land Council, and other Landcare networks, and welcomes community members of all ages and abilities to participate in conservation and biodiversity initiatives.
