Established in 2023, the Cardinia & West Gippsland Equine Landcare Group (CWGELG) unites horse owners and land managers passionate about sustainable, healthy environments. Operating under the Western Port Catchment Landcare Network, CWGELG promotes biodiversity, soil health, and best-practice equine landcare.
The group offers workshops, webinars, and farm visits on grazing, weed and soil management, and fire preparedness, in collaboration with Melbourne Water, Victorian Equine Landcare Community of Practice (VELCoP), and regional equine Landcare groups.
CWGELG is a successful recipient of a 2025 Melbourne Water Grant to support its project, “Establishing & Supporting Healthy Land Management for Equine Properties.” Its mission is to help equine property owners adopt sustainable practices that benefit both horses and the broader environment.
