Building catchment capacity and partnerships in the battle against invasive pests

WPCLN Building Catchment Capacity and Partnerships in the Battle Against Invasive Pests was a multi-pronged project that strengthened community skills and collaboration invasive weeds and pest animals management across the Western Port Catchment. With 14 Landcare and community groups representing a diverse mix of farms and bushland properties, the project supported landholders dealing with the invasive species that quickly spread along roadsides, drainage lines and waterways.

Three parts were delivered between October 2024 and March 2025. Together, the three parts of this project strengthened community knowledge, partnerships and readiness for future landscape-scale pest management.

Part 1 – Paper Road Walk and Talks explored unused paper roads identified through Cardinia Shire’s Bio-links Plan, with expert input on invasive weeds, biosecurity risks and biodiversity benefits.
