For over 30 years, the Labertouche and District Sustainable Farming and Landcare Group has championed sustainable farming, biodiversity, and community education across the Labertouche and Longwarry North districts. Working with the Western Port Catchment Landcare Network, the group promotes pest animal control, native revegetation, and environmental awareness.
Early projects focused on tree planting and the restoration of Eucalyptus fulgens, supporting both windbreaks and bushfire recovery. A key innovation is the group’s dedicated Pest Management Team—the first of its kind within Landcare—helping property owners manage foxes, deer, and rabbits. Through collaboration, education, and hands-on action, Labertouche Landcare continues to strengthen local sustainability and community stewardship of the land.
